Homeschoolers in Marin (HIM) is a diverse group of Christian homeschool mothers based in Marin County. Our purpose is support, education, and friendship (both for our children and ourselves) to help us live grace and truth filled lives, rich in beauty, truth, and goodness, with love binding them all together.

We have a weekly hands-on art and science co-op (first grade & up), afternoon park day, evening monthly moms support/book group (currently The Mission of Motherhood by homeschooling veteran, Sally Clarkson), field trips, socials (moms night out, family potlucks, etc.), and more. We communicate primarily through our Facebook group, but we also have a monthly email of events.

Our members are from all over the county, as well as Petaluma and San Francisco. Many families are recent transplants to California and/or the Bay Area, so we represent a broad geographic spectrum.  The same is true of our Christian associations, which span the three historic traditions (Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox).  Most of our members belong to different churches, primarily evangelical. All are welcome as long as they are respectful of our faith-based foundation and Biblical values.

Our homeschooling approaches are just as varied - a number of us are classical educators, but some use the Well Trained Mind approach while others do it the Charlotte Mason way; some follow a more traditional classroom model; still others use charter school programs like Pathways and Cava/K-12.  Despite our leanings, most of us are eclectic in our curriculum choices, so our preferred styles don't keep us from experimenting with new materials and methods. That's the beauty of homeschooling!

If all of that sounds good to you, the next step is to read the Membership page and submit the requested information.
